Grilled Peaches

Grilled Peaches

Grilled peaches are a sweet, two-ingredient crowd pleaser. Since stone fruit season is now in full swing, it’s the perfect time to add these to your summer holiday or weekend barbeque menu.

A note on choosing the right peach: while a soft, juicy, ripe peach may be perfect for eating out of hand, it’s sugar content and tenderness are no match for a hot grill. Peaches for grilling should be slightly firm when squeezed and of the freestone variety, this will make it easier to remove the pits before grilling.

Prep time: 5 minutes

Yield: 6 to 8 servings

Cook time: 8 to 10 minutes

What you’ll need:

  • 6 peaches
  • Olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Light a gas grill to medium heat. If you’re cooking over charcoal, make sure to grill the peaches after everything else has been grilled.
  2. Halve the peaches, remove the pits, and brush the cut sides with olive oil.
  3. Grill the peaches, cut side down, for 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Flip the peaches and cook for another 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. When the skins are charred and the peaches are soft, they are ready to be served. Remove them from the grill and serve them alone, with ice cream, or as an accompaniment to grilled meat.
